Welcome to the Art Gallery
I’ve always been an artist, One of my first memories is triggered by the smell of turpentine. I’m standing in my crib watching my mother oil paint. Fortunately my gifts were nurtured with art supplies all around me. My first defining event was acceptance into the LA County High School for the Arts. (LACHSA) From there I headed out into 2 years at the art institute of Chicago, where I majored in ceramics and foundry. In 1992,I completed my BFA in painting at the Laguna College of Art and Design.
I want my art to stimulate the imagination, relax the viewer, help them to feel peaceful and curious about the story . I create worlds filled with fantastic beings and nature spirits. I love emphasizing unusual details of plants or emphasizing and natural phenomenon of landscapes I’ve seen. I appreciate the computer as a tool, but I prefer to create by hand. I feel its more organic and personal that way. I use my own photo references, from my back yard and travels around the world. I have found its the quickest way to capture my ideas when inspiration is fresh. I work mainly in acrylic and watercolor, for its ease of transport, drying time, and lack of toxic solvents.
I have been honored to participate both "Innerstate" and the "Paradise Artist's Retreat" with the "visionary artists of tattooing". I’m part of a movement that will be marked in art history like the impressionists or the surrealists were in their day. I have designed for Osiris shoes, World tattoo Authority, and Tattooed Steel. I exhibit in juried shows, and had my first one woman show at Little Tsunami Tattoo in Kauai.
I practice living in gratitude truly appreciative of everything I get to experience, and my best work is simply enjoying all life has to offer.
